Times of personal loss are difficult for everyone. Pastoral Care offers guidance and compassionate support during or after the death of a loved one. If you or a loved one is hospitalized, in a nursing home or even shut in at home, we offer support and care for you — you don’t have to be alone.
There is a minister on call 24/7 for death or a hospital emergency. During office hours (Monday-Thursday, 9am-5pm; Friday 9am-1pm), you may call 704.364.5003 and you will be directed to the minister on call. After office hours or on weekends, please call 704.364.5003 for instructions on how to reach the minister on call.
Our desire is to minister to our congregation during these anxious, difficult times. Because hospital stays are brief these days, it is important to let us know as soon as possible when you or someone in the Central Church family is in the hospital. If you or a loved one has any type of surgery scheduled (in-patient or out-patient) please call Victoria at 704.295.6869 to let us know. A minister from Central Church would love to visit, pray and comfort you and/or your loved one during this time.
Use our Pastoral Care Hospital Form to submit hospital information about you or a loved one.
Mourning the loss of a loved one is a time of intense pain. We are here to walk with you through this difficult time. We are available to assist you in planning a funeral or memorial service for a Central Church member/attender. If you have experienced the death of a loved one, please submit your information via the Report A Death Form or call Victoria at 704.295.6869.
We would love to reach out to those in our church family who are in a nursing home or an assisted living facility. Also, we would love to visit and pray with those who are homebound due to an illness or physical limitations. Weekly service CDs are available to these individuals. Please call Brad at 704-295-6885 to let us know how we can help.

Currently, there are two areas of volunteering in the Pastoral Care Ministry.
Care & Comfort serves families who have lost a loved one. This team brings comfort to grieving families by preparing a meal during a very difficult time. Funeral services are held at Central Church with the meal following. Volunteers on this team would be called occasionally to provide a dish for the funeral meal.
Nursing Home/Homebound visitation helps those who are trying to cope with illnesses, or the loss of their independence and mobility. There are many individuals who call Central their church home who are homebound or confined to a care facility. They would very much appreciate a visit from a friendly person with an encouraging word. Are you that person?
If you are willing to fill either or both of these vital needs, please fill out the form below.
