Jail & Prison Ministries

Today there are over two million people in America's prisons and jails. They are there because they've built their lives on the wrong foundation. In our society they are cast aside, considered good for nothing and rejected. Central Church believes there is hope. They need not be cast aside and rejected. They simply need to come to Jesus Christ.

We use a multi-faceted approach to reach out to those who are caught in the cycle of crime and incarceration. If you are interested in getting involved in any of the three areas of jail & prison ministry described below, please select the "New Volunteer Application." For more information, call Toniann at 704-944-1318 or email toniannl@centralnc.org.

Jail Outreach

Central Church goes into the jails in Mecklenburg, Union and York counties on a weekly basis.

Multiple opportunities are available immediately for volunteers who may feel called to minister in Bible study and discipleship in our local jail system.

Discipleship

Once an inmate has accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior they need guidance to learn to live in the new life God has given them. With God's leading Central Church Jail and Prison Ministries has developed The Basic Bible Study Series. Each of the ten study guides includes a question and answer sheet for the inmate/student to complete and mail back to us along with prayer requests. Once the basic series is completed each student will receive a personalized certificate of achievement along with the first study guide in The Word Bible Study Series. This second Bible series includes 32 additional study guides that cover both the Old and New Testaments. God is using these unique Bible studies, along with our Ministries' personal touch, to make a real difference in the Christian growth of these inmate/students.

Not comfortable going into the prisons or jails? God can still use you to disciple inmates through the mail in our Prison Ministry Discipleship Center here at the Charlotte Central Church campus. Volunteers receive and log in student information and answer sheets, send out the next study guide in the series along with a note of encouragement, and most importantly pray for each inmate/student and their families.

Evangelism

Travel with the Prison Outreach team into the prison facilities of North and South Carolina. Our team sets the stage for you to share your faith in Jesus Christ. This is a great opportunity to lead men and women to the Lord. Check our prison ministry schedule to see when you may be able to minister with us.
