Open House Coffee Break: Helping Those with PTSD

Life Care Center
Thursday, Mar 01, 2018 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Location: Life Care Center Great Room
Cost: Free

According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. On average, there are 121 suicides every day, and for every one suicide, there are 25 attempts. The National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) states that studies show suicide risk is higher in those struggling with PTSD. PTSD affects approximately 3.5 percent of U.S. adults, and an estimated one in 11 people will experience PTSD in their lifetime, according to the American Psychiatric Association. PTSD can occur in any ethnicity, nationality/culture, gender or age. Join us for our Open House Coffee Break as we explore treatment plans and strategies for supporting those struggling with PTSD. Together, we can make a positive difference.

Come early to enjoy coffee, juice and pastries. The meeting begins at 9am, and we will hear from Dr. John Humphrey. This is a special opportunity for counselors, ministers, social workers, students and anyone in the field of counseling.

Please bring any brochures, business cards, information of upcoming events or other materials you'd like to share. Please register below or email jordanm@centralnc.org by Monday, February 26.
