Cross Training

Older to Younger • Peer to Peer
• Experienced to Novice

Befriending and discipling happens around us in many settings. Mentoring is opening and sharing our lives with others. Mentoring can be a short-term or long-term relationship with another person to help grow spiritually. Mentors do not have to be perfect or have all the answers.

Hebrews 10:25 and Titus 2:3-5 urge us to meet together and encourage one another. We are commanded this in scriptures.

To be part of Women of Central mentoring program as a mentor or mentee please register or contact the women’s department at 704.364.5003.

Download the appropriate form and return it to Andrea Beane.

“Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God” Titus 2:3-5.

CSM September Sermon Series

Junior Varsity, Varsity
Sunday, Sep 06, 2015

Junior Varsity & Varsity September Sermon Series: “Party Time”

It’s party time! Our series will lead us into Luke chapter 15 to discover what makes heaven throw a party.

Each sermon will confront how much Jesus loves us even in our wandering and at times of faithlessness. We will address the issue of works and self-righteousness and discover that it’s not about what we do, but what Christ has done for us. He is a loving Savior, Who desires that we know Him in an intimate relationship. He came to seek and save the lost.

Tuesday, Sep 15, 2015 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Tuesdays
September 15 – November 17, 2015
January 12 – March 15, 2016

Join Women of the Word this fall for a Bible study titled, Beholding and Becoming. We believe it is essential to become who we have been created to be – like Christ, our truest identity! Be a part of this journey to know God better and seek a more accurate and intimate understanding of the Lord. Our prayer is that as we become more deeply acquainted with Him and experience the joy of “beholding” Who God really is, we will enter into the transformational process of “becoming” who we truly are. For scripture tells us: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Class fee is $40* and includes materials. Advance registration is required.

Leader: Jeanie Fox

Wednesday, Sep 16, 2015 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
September 16 – November 18

For adults
• Your heart is a battlefield. There are false gods at war within each of us battling for prominence in our lives and in our families. We’ll equip you to win this battle beginning September 16th. Among the gods at war for your heart are gods of pleasure, gods of love and gods of money. We’ll tackle these and other idols head-on in the provoking series, Gods at War. The night will include a 20-minute video segment featuring Kyle Idleman, small group discussion, prayer and worship.

There is no charge to attend Gods at War.

• Join Ray and Gerrie Butler for two DVD studies by Ray Vander Laan: Promised Land and In the Dust of the Rabbi.

Promised Land: Vander Laan illustrates how God guided His people to a specific place – the Promised Land – to impact the world both in ancient times and today. Just like the time and place of our birth shapes our journey, so the land and culture of the Hebrew people shaped their story. Promised Land provides wonderful context to the stories of that time.

In the Dust of the Rabbi: Filmed on location in Israel, the video series brings God’s Word to life with astounding relevance. By weaving together the Bible’s fascinating historical, cultural, religious, and geographical contexts, teacher and historian Ray Vander Laan reveals unique insights into the Scriptures’ significance for modern believers.

Materials: $20* (Couples can share materials.)

Study of Acts Part 1: Jesus' Witnesses, Empowered by His Spirit

Adult Class, Charlotte Campus
Thursday, Sep 17, 2015 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Thursdays, September 17 – November 19

Luke’s first account was his gospel in which he recorded all that Jesus began to do and teach. His second account we call Acts, or the Acts of the Apostles, in which Luke recorded what happened after Jesus’ ascension to the Father. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, empowering the apostles to testify to the power of God in salvation and in living every day for the gospel. Learn how God spread the gospel through witnesses of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and from their examples, how you too can witness to others. Stand in awe of the power of God in believers to endure persecution and suffering for the cause of Christ and embrace His power in your life. Be encouraged by the results of faithful servants holding forth truth in a dark world; watch as the church grows numerically, geographically, and culturally.

Leader: Billie Ferrone

Materials: $20 (Online price includes a convenience fee of 70¢.)

This six-week Bible study challenges you to examine your personal relationship with God, make up your mind to believe God’s Word regardless of your feelings or circumstances, and take hold of some non-negotiable principles of the faith. Drawing upon the words of 2 Timothy 1:12, there are five spiritual “landmarks” that point us to foundational promises in God’s Word that we can know beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Leader: Pam Macaluso

Cost of Materials: $13 (Online price incudes a convenience fee of 52¢.)

CSM October Sermon Series: #Selfie

Junior Varsity, Varsity
Sunday, Oct 04, 2015

We live in a culture that overindulges in the art of promoting self above all else. We can so easily become consumed with selfish desires and selfish ambition. The idol of self must be addressed in our lives and we must take the focus off “Selfie.”

One sermon at a time will challenge students to a life of generosity and sacrifice. This begins at home with simple things like helping parents out, considering the feelings of siblings, and laying down selfish desires.

Selfie must decrease so that Christ would increase.

Lake Wylie, South Carolina
Thursdays: October 8, November 12, December 10
Leader: Janice Anderson

Come empty, be filled … with food, fun, fellowship and faith.

To help women connect in a deeper way with God, each other, and themselves (see Matthew 22:37-39).

What is Teacups?

This is a monthly gathering of women with the purpose of connecting in three ways:

1) Social Connection – A grown-up tea party! A place where women can talk, laugh and enjoy just being together while also enjoying yummy drinks and treats.

2) Deeper Connection – Storytelling! One woman each month will share her personal story with the group.

3) Spiritual Connection – Teacup swap! Each woman will bring a teacup and will place a personal prayer request inside of it. At the end of the evening, every woman will take home someone else’s teacup and prayer request and will pray for that woman over the next month.

If you would like to take part, please register and you will be contacted by a teacup ministry leader.

Healing for Hurts, Habits and Hang-ups

Charlotte Campus, Life Care Center
Saturday, Nov 07, 2015 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

In the Family Life Center’s Seminar Room

Most of us have heard the expression, “time heals all wounds.” The truth is time can often make matters worse. If the limitless number of issues we all face in life causing hurt, disappointment, and loss are left untended they can fester, often causing self-defeating behaviors and strongholds. Many times, we don’t even realize it, but they can negatively impact every aspect of life: distorting our view of God, self, and others; preventing healthy relational attachment; and even causing physical illness.

Regardless of the challenging issues you or someone you love may be dealing with, the Rodgers will offer insight for understanding and hope for positive change. You will receive practical biblical tools that will bring everlasting healing, freedom, and growth to your life.

Please arrive a little early to enjoy light refreshments.

About Our Speakers:
The Rodgers have been Christian counselors for over 30 years. They have written several books together and trained counselors, pastors, and lay leaders across the globe in their Soul Healing Love Model of counseling. Their model is used in counseling centers and small groups in over 25 states and six countries. Their love for God and His people has taken them around the world facilitating workshops for couples, singles, and families.

Seminar Cost: $25 (Online price includes a convenience fee of 76¢.)
It is our desire that no one be discouraged from participating in the Life Care Center ministry due to financial concerns. Please don't hesitate to ask if you need financial assistance.

The story of the Good Samaritan gives a clear picture of God’s desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. Northern Iraq is one of these desperate areas in our world today. Islamic militants with ISIS continue their persecution of Christians and other religious minority groups. Help is needed for thousands who have fled for their lives with only the clothes on their back. Hundreds of girls have been brutally assaulted by ISIS forces. Women of Central is partnering with Samaritan’s Purse to provide much-needed supplies before winter comes for these precious souls who describe horrors of facing death at the hands of Islamic militants.
